Acne Treatment

You have acne and your pregnant, it almost sounds like an oxymoron. But not all women are glowing when they are pregnant; the harsh reality is that some women have acne. All of those hormones can wreck havoc with your skin during pregnancy.

What can you do?

You may be tempted to ignore it and hope it goes away when give birth, but that's not always the case. In some instances, if you don't treat it right it will continue after you have your baby. You want to use a sulphur based topical product or one that contains glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids and a microdermabrasion home kit will also help you.

If none of those help you, you may need to see a dermatologist to get a prescription medication that will help you. You may even want to try different makeup like a powder mineral.

Patches of dark, pigmented skin may appear on your face during your pregnancy because of hormones and exposure to the sun. If your pigmentation is dark as well as your hair you are at a greater risk of having problems with these dark patches. There really isn't any treatment for this, but you should stay out of the sun or at the very least make sure that you are wearing sunscreen whenever you are outside.

Itchy skin on your stomach

Does the skin your stomach itch? This is in part due to hormones, but it also happens because your skin is stretching. If you develop a rash you need to be sure to tell you doctor so he can make sure that it is nothing serious, but most women experience harmless itching on their stomach. Steroid creams can help or you can try taking an oatmeal bath.

Stretch marks

And let's don't forget the dread stretch marks. There are a variety of products on the market that you can try. And after your pregnancy you can see your dermatologist for a few laser treatments to help them fade quicker or you may want to try microdermabrasion, or injection fillers that can help you get rid of those nasty stripes on your belly.

Anti-aging treatments during pregnancy

Botox, Restylane and other anti-aging wrinkle treatments have not been tested or confirmed as to their safety for usage during pregnancy. Again, as with any acne or dermatologic treatment you should discuss them with your dermatologist so that whatever treatment options that you seek are safe for you and your baby.
