Sex Education for Teenagers

As a child enters puberty, he or she might become confused by all of the body changes that are occurring, some of which happen quite fast. Boys grow facial hair, their voices deepen, and they sexually mature. Girls grow breasts, more body hair, and start to menstruate.

No matter how fast or how slowly a child enters puberty, it is very important that he or she become familiar with the topic of fertility. Too many teenagers end up having children when they are not that far beyond being a child. How does this happen? Because they have not been properly educated about fertility.

Parents are at their wits end about this topic, because their teenagers generally do not listen to anything their parents say. Plus, they would probably be grossed out if they parents tried to discuss sex and its consequences with them. However, that does not stop parents from at least trying!

Luckily, school programs that teach about sexual education and fertility have been implemented in school systems, so that the teenagers are taught what they need to know by an impartial person. It also helps that the teenagers are learning about this with their peers, instead of getting a one-on-one talk. Thus, it helps to foster a more comfortable situation.

When it comes to the things that every teenager should know about fertility, it all starts with what is going on in their own bodies. For teenage males, they will start prematurely ejaculating and experiencing uncontrollable erections. For teenage females, they will start getting increased mood swings associated with their menstrual cycle.

It seems that teenagers are entering puberty faster than they ever have before. The reason for this is due, in part, to better nutrition. The better the nutrition, the faster the body reacts because of the endocrine system. Because of this, children as young as ten years old find themselves entering into puberty.

All of this also has to do with evolution. Even just 100 years ago, the life expectancy for the average human was far less than it is today (around 45 years of age). So, it made sense that the body prepared itself far earlier to have children.

Now, with people living into their hundreds, early puberty is something that has socially become unnecessary, but that does not mean it is anatomically obsolete. With the changes in their hormones, both males and females will begin feeling a strong attraction to each other sexually.

Obviously, everyone can see where such a scenario could end up if these teenagers became sexually active. In a society where literally everything has some sort of a sexual connotation, peer pressure is at its highest. It is best for teenagers to wait until they are at least of legal age to have sex, and even then to do so responsibly.

It was harder in earlier times for couples to practice safe sex, but now, there are lots of ways to prevent early pregnancy, condoms and birth control just two of them. So, it really comes down to teenagers being educated about making the right choices.
